Fukuin - Japanese word for "gospel" Proverbs2525.org - Like cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a distant land.

"Fukuin" in Japanese characters

In Japanese, these characters together form the word fukuin - which means "good news"- especially the good news of the gospel.  Taken separately, the first character means "blessed" and the second means "sound".  So, in Japanese, the gospel is the "blessed sound" - the blessed sound of someone proclaiming the good news that, "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).

This verse speaks of the great love that God has for us and how God has promised the gift of an eternal joy-filled life to all who believe in His Son Jesus Christ.  This is truly good news!
